Hello,

no matter, which *.msi file I try to install: The installer tells me, it
cannot access it. How can I repair the installer? I use Windows XP SP3.

There are 3 PCs in my house. All of them receive automatic updates. On 2 of
them the installer is no more working. On the other it is working.

I had looked for a download of the installer on the microsoft web site, but
I was directed to WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe . That one told me,
my Windows is newer than the package and did not install. Then somebody
directed me to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displayLang=de .
That solved my problem.

Default installer no more working

Hello,

I have an issue with the installer again. Is there anybody who can help me
to fix the problem?

I have an *.msi package, that I was able to install on 2 different PCs, both
Windows XP SP3
home, simply by double clicking it in explorer. On the 3rd PC, also Windows
XP SP3 home, the installer does nothing with that *.msi package. Instead it
shows a help dialogue, which tells me, by what parameters the installer can
be called. I want to install that *.msi package on the 3rd PC also. On all
three PCs I have the same installer WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe . I
already reinstalled that installer without success. I have not yet
uninstalled and freshly installed the installer, because there is no
uninstall entry in control panel-software.

Many thanks in advance for help
Heiner

%TEMP% contained approx. 800MB . I cleared it. That did not help. I have
approx 30GB free space on the hard disk and the *.msi is only approx. 10MB.

The package I want to install seems to contain another *.msi . I found that
in %TEMP% and was able to install it. But then it did not ask me for the
language which I want to have installed. It installed English and I want
German.

Hi Heinrich,
I would suggest you to install the *.msi file using the commandline options as below
msiexec /i "path to the *.msi file" ALLUSERS=1
