SCVMM 2008 R2 installed in 2008 R2 Standard 64 bit (virtual machine hosted
on Server 2008 R2 64 bit Enterprise with Hyper-V). This is a new installation for evaluation. [I've previously installed and used SCVMM 2008 R2 in a virtual machine hosted by Server 2008 R2 64 bit Enterprise and was able to add hosts and manage the hosts and VMs successfully.] The current, problematic, instance is completely unrelated to the one that is working - its on a different set of computers in a different domain at a different location, different business, different AD forest. The first attempt to add a host failed Error (2915) The WS-Management service cannot process the request. Object not found on the [name of server running SCVMM - NOT the name of the host being added] server. (Unknown error (0x80041002)) Recommended Action Ensure that the agent is installed and running. If the error persists, reboot [name of server running SCVMM - NOT the name of the host being added]and then try the operation again. I've restarted the server running SCVMM, but the Add Host failed the same way. However, on the host that I was attempting to add, which is running Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Server Core, the domain user account that SCVMM is configured to use was added to the local Administrators user group and the VMM Agent service was installed and is in the Started stated. Does anyone have any idea what else needs to be done to get this to work? -- Bruce Sanderson http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/ It's perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question. |

Finally I was successful in both, by a very simple solution. During the wizard, on the firt step where you have to write credentials. Administrator and Domain is already selected, you just have to enter Password. Buy default Domain name selected is the NetBios name of the domain eg. CONTOSO. After entering password wizard takes you to the next step of adding computers. So you feel everything with the credentials is OK. But in reality its not. On the same screen after entering password just add ".com" after Domain name. Beleive me it works. After doing that I could easily add many hosts to my SCVMM and also I could convert Physical to Virtal(P2V). I was struggling for 2 days with various kinds of errors. But adding ".com" on the first credential's screen worked like a charm for me. Regards Snehal |
