Exporting a VM

This is probably a stupid question, but why should I change now?

I am using Server 2008 with Hyper-V and have no problem creating and using
VMs. I would like to export my VMs to another location, but I can't find a
way to do so. I use Server Manager/Hyper-V Manager and there is a Import
item in the Action Pane, but no Export.

Can someone tell me where to look for the Export facility.

Highlight a VM in the Virtual Machines section that is shut down, and then
in the actions pane you'll see an export option in the lower half of the
pane.

Tom,

You can also simply move the VHD and recreate the handful of parameters for
the VM configuration as well. Sometimes this can be faster / more
straight-forward than exporting/importing (unless you have snapshots, etc.).

Thanks for the info. I had already discovered the "create a new VM with the
old VHD" trick. Charlie told me about shutting down the VM before exporting
it. And I agree that the number of snapshots is probably the governing
condition.
